Automating Screw Handling with Tooldrives Spindle System and igus Gantry
To optimize the repair process for soundbars, where 16 screws had to be unscrewed and later screwed back in, a custom automation solution combining an igus gantry robot and a Tooldrives spindle system was developed. The spindle system supports diverse applications like drilling, screwing, and deburring. A magnetic ring was added to the bit attachment to securely hold screws, ensuring precision and consistency during the process. This innovative setup streamlined the repetitive screw handling task.
What is the Application?
The system automates unscrewing and screwing processes during soundbar repair operations. The screws are held magnetically, removed, and stored in a fixture for reuse post-repair.
What are the Advantages of the Solution?
High Flexibility: The spindle system supports various attachments for multiple tasks.
Enhanced Efficiency: Automates repetitive processes, reducing manual intervention.
Secure Handling: Magnetized bits ensure the screws remain stable during operation.
What are the Advantages of the Robot?
The combination of the igus gantry and Tooldrives spindle system delivers:
Precision: Accurate positioning for consistent screw handling.
Customization: Easily adaptable to suit different repair tasks.
Reliability: Durable for continuous operation in high-demand environments.
Optimizing Repairs with Automated Screw Handling
This innovative solution demonstrates the power of combining igus gantry systems with the Tooldrives spindle technology. By improving speed, accuracy, and efficiency, the automated process ensures consistent quality while reducing manual workload, making it ideal for scalable repair and assembly operations.
